Estes Park - January 31, 2009

What are you doing May 2-3, 2009?

I'll be in Estes Park, Colorado! I'm attending a workshop with other artists who are firing up their careers learning how to use email, websites and blogs effectively, to promote our art.
A No-Excuses Art-Marketing Seminar with Alyson B. Stanfield.

I can't wait. I'll be meeting up with my friend, Cydni, who lives in Colorado. We've rented a cabin with a fireplace and plan to really enjoy the trip!

This little shoe painting is a 2.5" x 3.5" watercolor.

Practice word therapy - serenity, urbanity, impeturbability, equanimity. Say those powerful, mind-healing words over to yourself every day. Let them recondition your stressful attitudes.

After the Ice Storm - January 30, 2009

Good Morning!

I'm back at work after 3 -1/2 days at home. If I had not
parked my jeep at the top of the driveway, I would
still be at home. I am not a big fan of ice storms!

Enthusiasm releases the drive to carry you over
obstacles and adds significance to all that you do.
It tones up your physical vitality and gives warmth
to all your personal relationships. When you
associate with enthusiasm long enough it grabs you
and takes over within you.

From the book - Positive Thinking Every Day
-Norman Vincent Peale

Have a great day!

You can make the mind give you
back anything you want, but remember
the mind can give back only what it
was first given. So fill your mind with
all peaceful experiences possible, then
make planned and deliberate excursions
to them in memory.

The little watercolor painting is 4" x 6". I zoomed in on the truck for you... it's only 3/4" x a little over an inch. The photo I did it from is from Desiree at WetCanvas.

Okay, I don't know what I was thinking with this painting! It's a 7" x 10" watercolor. I was experimenting with wax paper, salt, gauze, rice & patience! hahaha

Acts of Kindness - January 22, 2009

Helping others increases your feelings of self-worth and value in this
world. You are always needed, because there is always someone
who needs an act of kindness.

"You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you."

Inauguration Day - January 20, 2009

When people succeed, I am as happy for them as I would be for my own success. I congratulate others for putting their prosperity conciousness to work, and I am inspired by their success.

When we discover the still, quiet place that lies
within each of us, we can see it as a base to untangle
ourselves from the doubt, indecision, ill health, guilt
and other forms of old programming that result in
confused and defused actions.

We're the Same - January 12, 2009

This is a little ditty I call "We're the Same". Kinda fun, eh?

"In ordinary life we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more
than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich."

Out of Africa Trade - January 12, 2009

I completed some more ATCs for the Out of Africa Trade, this weekend. These are all 2.5" x 3.5" watercolors.

H2Oils - January 12, 2009

"Real life isn't always going to be perfect or go our way, but
the recurring acknowledgement of what is working in our lives
can help us not only to survive but surmount our difficulties."-Sara Ban Breathnach

Boy, isn't that the truth!

I painted in oils this weekend. The oils I use are friendlier to the environment and my husbands fragile lungs. I paint with Van Gogh H2Oils. I'm not very experienced with oil paint, but I sure like not having to mess with paint thinner and all that mess, when I do get them out to play. For a watercolor gal, oils are a real awkward medium, but way fun!!!

Art House Sketchbook Finished - January 9, 2009

Well, I did it! I finished all 64 pages in my little Moleskine journal for Art House! When I first received this little book, It seemed like a huge undertaking, to complete all 64 pages! But today, I did the very last page. Monday, I'll mail it to Art House Gallery and they will take it on the road to at least 6 galleries! I'll get it back after the gallery tour is over. For more information on this little journal's big adventure go to Art House Gallery's link here.

From Robert Genn's newsletter, is this wonderful little ditty:

"Like a lot of teenagers, I found myself wasting a lot of time. I had to teach myself respect for time. If you too feel you might have a touch of sloth, here are a few ploys you might find useful:
**To become enthusiastic, act enthusiastically.
**Retrain to the better habits you know you can have.
**Keep track of time and pay attention to the clock.
**Know that acquired proficiency breeds love of work.
**Count your jobs completed, not your time spent.
**Reprogram regularity into your life.
**See the value in what you're doing.
**Be a loving collector of your own accomplishments.

And then....

"Each day comes bearing its own gifts. Untie the ribbons."

An exciting workshop in Colorado

My friend, Cyndi and I are signed up to go to this workshop. We are very excited about it. It's a big step in one of my new journeys!

January 6, 2009

No matter what the level of your ability, you have more
potential than you can ever develop in a lifetime.

James T. McCay

I spent a lot of yesterday getting caught up on emails and projects to tidy up for the new year. I am looking forward to 2009 with a heightened sense of anticipation. I am embarking on some new journeys and am planning to refine the way I do the old stuff, so that I might be more efficient. I am entering the new year with a thankful heart, over all I have been given already. Here's the last few little things I worked on over the weekend.

What's on my easel - January 2, 2009

When you wholeheartedly
adopt a "with all your heart" attitude
and go all out with the positive
principal, you can do incredible things.

I painted this owl in Van Gogh H2Oils. This is 6" x 18", which is large for me. I'm going to try to paint a little larger this year. It was really fun! Then of course, my little 3.5" x 5.5" Moleskine journal is getting closer and closer to it's page 64 completion. I'll do page 49 next. When it's finished, it'll go off to Art House to hit the 7 gallery tour. Yeah!
