Enthusiasm releases the drive to carry you over obstacles
and adds significance to all that you do. It tones up your
physical vitality and gives warmth to all your personal
relationships. When you associate with enthusiasm long
enough, it grabs you and takes over within you.

Positive Thinking Every Day
I am still trying to adjust to February. I always need every minute of every day that I can get my hands on! I feel like I've been cheated out of 2-3 days that I really needed before March starts. My most valuable asset seems to be time. There's always so much I want to do. I'm lucky that way, because I'd hate to have long, empty days with nothing to do.
When I get a little extra time, I am going to learn how to Twitter. hehehe
Alyson Stanfield says I need to Twitter and I respect her advice.

Law of The Garbage Truck

I wish I knew who wrote this, but I received it as an anonymous email from a friend. I want to share it with you! Enjoy!

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxidriver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

I used to live in high heels and business suits. Now, the only time I don that apparel is for funerals. I used to love my high heels! The funkier, the better. Seems like a lifetime ago! I look at them now and I can see the artistic quality they possess. The ones that Carrie adored on Sex and the City would have been so fun to make! I'll stick to my flip flops and my small town lake life. It suits me.

Today is a special day for me. I moved in with my husband nine years ago today. He has made such a huge difference in my life. He taught me how to really live! He looks at life as a big giant gift, to be experienced with total joy and abandonment! I am a better person because he loves me! Awwwwww!

Although all men share a common destiny, each individual also has to work out his personal salvation for himself. We can help each other find the meaning of life, but in the last analysis, each is responsible for finding himself.

Self Protraits.... I am working on one in the printmaking forum at WetCanvas and several of my friends are working on theirs in the colored pencil forum. It's neat to see everybody's take on themselves. When I showed my husband my work in progress, he could hardly contain his laughter! That's okay! I have never done a self portrait and it is pretty funny!

I did this little 4"x6" watercolor postcard for Arts for Global Development. They have a show featuring postcards depicting women's issues, all done by female artists from around the world. They raise money for great causes. This year the proceeds will go to help support Friends of Orphans in Uganda. I was a part of it last year and it's very rewarding. The have a lot of ways you can help, if you like. Just go to the website and check them out!

Another 2.5" x 3.5" painting of yesterday's shoes. Of course, the laces have been changed to protect the innocent!

It's amazing what I have been discovering, through the exercises of marketing my art. I have been making signs for 17 years and they generally speak for themselves. After all these years, they seem to pretty much sell by word of mouth and reputation. I would love to be there someday with my art. It is interesting that sign people generally do not group together and help each other. It's a very competetive business. I am finding the opposite to be true with art. The more artists I gather with, the more confidence I seem to gain. We are a real community! I am very thankful for my artist friends.

Genuine beginnings begin within us, even when they are brought to our attention by external opportunities. -William Bridges

2.5" x 3.5" watercolor painting. Are you tired of the shoes yet? I am loving them! They have been so much fun and I can't wait to start on the large versions. Probably the tennies, though. I don't think too many people would want to have these scruffy old brown shoes hanging on their wall. They do look as though someone loved them and wore them often. Maybe they were super comfy!

Another little 2.5" x 3.5" pair of shoes. I painted 24 shoe paintings recently, so I'll be posting a lot of shoes here. I also did this little lady Saturday. She is 4" tall. I did a pastel painting Sunday, but it's still a work in progress. I am not experienced in pastels, so it's an adventure and a messy one at that! heehee
