Monarch Migration - August 27, 2009

Believe more deeply. Hold your face up to the light, even though for the moment you do not see.

The Monarchs are going to be migrating through Oklahoma in another month. (Our latitude is 35.287) We love when it happens, although the numbers have been fewer the last few years. On the peak days, we try to spend as much time on the lake as we can. It's so beautiful when you're floating around out there, surrounded by Monarchs! You can find your latitude on the internet, if you don't know it. They may be visiting you any day!

Beth...20 years ago we moved to Purcell, OK and had the joy of watching Monarchs in our backyard early one morning. It was fabulous. Unfortunately, they did not keep returning...we had built on a vacant lot and probably disturbed their habitat. We always wished they would return.

Now we live in North Carolina...not sure where to find them here....this summer my daughter and I planted butterfly friendly flowers and we have so enjoyed watching a number of varieties visit our yard.

Enjoy being surrounded by Monarchs and keep us posted!

Hi Vickie. Did you look at the monarch watch link? They have the most likely date for your latitude, if they migrate through North Carolina. In 1992, they were so thick! I wish their population would grow to that massive number again! We'll be out there watching! **big grin**

We actually moved to Purcell in 1992 and had no idea that area was a stopping place for them. It was such a surprise to see them and so amazing.

Cool! You got to see them when they were so thick! Wasn't that the most beautiful sight?! I moved to Eufaula that year.
