Hey! Where are my shoes?

Hey!  I’m in Bethville…. so where are my shoes?
.
Needs no explanation, if you know my art.  **giggle**
.
Yesterday was the hubby’s birthday.  We had a very romantic day of knocking dirt dobber nests off the stucco and scrubbing the red dirt stains away.  It took us 5 hours, but it made the hubby very, very happy.   Pork ribs and sweet potatoes for dinner didn’t hurt either.   He was celebrating the 27th anniversary of his 38th birthday.  :)

About Dolores Huerta

American labor leader Dolores Huerta cofounded the United Farm Workers and played a major role in the American civil-rights movement. She was born in a mining town in New Mexico in 1930 and raised in California’s Central Valley, where she saw the plight of farmworkers up close. She abandoned teaching for activism after witnessing her students’ poverty. Her best-known campaign was the successful grape boycott of the 1960′s. She currently serves as president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, an organization aimed at promoting social justice in agricultural regions of California.

There’s Nothing Wrong With Living in a Pink House -6″ x 6″ Watercolor and Sharpie

“The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment, it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.”

There’s Nothing Wrong With Living in a Pink House -6″ x 6″ Watercolor and Sharpie

I live in a pink house.  It’s actually this color, too.  Pink stucco with white trim.  It was my husband’s idea.  It didn’t used to be this pink.  While looking at it from the lake, by boat, the hubby said “It’s not pink enough.”  I’m serious!  He really did say that!  So…. when we had some hail damage a few years ago, he had them stucco it pinker.  It has become a bit of a landmark.  We’ve heard people say “Go to the pink house and turn right to go to No. 9 Marina” or “At the pink house, turn left to go to the dam”.   It has even been called the Mary Kay house… to our face!  How funny is that?

If you didn’t know that houses in Bethville were a little wonky, you’d think the people who built this one were drunk.  But, I assure you… in the photo from the WetCanvas Reference Image Library,  it’s all neat and straight and…. white!   (…and I wasn’t drunk!)  Be extra careful on those stairs.   :)

Versace Home in Pink

“The other day a man asked me what I thought was the best time of my life. ‘Why,’ I answered without a thought, ‘now.’”
David Grayson

I agree, with a resounding NOW!!!  -  I love this time of my life!

Versace Home in Pink – 5.5″ x 8.5″ Watercolor & Sharpie

Helen at WetCanvas posted a photo of the Versace home on WetCanvas for us to paint from.  Yes… of course it is white.  What’s the fun in that?  At my house, we are having our pink stucco freshened up this week.  Wanna see?

So… now does it make more sence that I turned Versace’s home pink?  We had leftover stucco.  he he
Note… I can’t give you any biographical info today on David Grayson.  There are too many of them on the internet.  I don’t know which one said this.  I got it from one of my favorite books in the whole world… Wrinkles Don’t Hurt – Daily Meditations on the Joy if Aging – by the wonderful author, Ruth Fishel.  She also wrote A Time for Joy, another of my favorites.
