Pink Moose – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor & Ink Postcard

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Pink Moose – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor & Ink Postcard

This little postcard was a doodle, more than anything.  I painted the moose from a photo by Stalksthedawn at WetCanvas, then just doodled.  This is another one from Idaho in 2011.  I’m working on some more new paintings, but they are slow, since I haven’t had much time to paint.  Should have a new one for you in a day or two.

I LOVE today’s quote!  It’s my life mantra, so to speak.

Melody Beattie is one of America’s most beloved self-help authors and a household name in addiction and recovery circles.  Her international bestselling book, Codependent No More, introduced the world to the term “codependency” in 1986.  Millions of readers have trusted Melody’s words of wisdom and guidance because she knows firsthand what they’re going through. In her lifetime, she has survived abandonment, kidnapping, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, divorce, and the death of a child. “Beattie understands being overboard, which helps her throw bestselling lifelines to those still adrift,” said Time Magazine.  More…

Geese and Kangaroos? Huh? 5″ x 7″ Watercolor and Sharpie

“Pay attention to how you feel: what you love, dislike, hate, enjoy. Pay attention to what grabs your heart, what interests you. Discover who you are, not who you think you should be.”

Geese and Kangaroos?  Huh?  5″ x 7″ Watercolor and Sharpie

Of course you have figured out that this was painted from 2 different photos by Mary Y (from Australia) at WetCanvas.  I don’t even know how big a kangaroo would be if he was standing next to (and chatting away with) a goose.  It’s possible he is much larger than this… or smaller.   The only thing my hubby wanted to know is if I am ever going to run out of pink paint.  he he he   Not a chance!

“Don’t look down.  Look up!  The steeper the climb,  the more important it is to laugh.  People say the bubble is popping, it’s bad out there, and it’s getting worse. Everyone’s getting the rug ripped out from under them, one man said.  No matter how bad it gets, we can still find happiness. There’s some for each of us. We may need to redefine what happiness is before we can find it but when we do, we discover it’s been there all along.   Another word for happiness is Peace. It’s been looking for us.”

I like that.  She sounds like a smart lady.

Valentine’s Dessert 3 – 4.5″ x 4.5″ Watercolor

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.

a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Yeah!!!  I love that!!

Valentine’s Dessert 3 – 4.5″ x 4.5″ Watercolor

Yummmm.  Now I’m hungry.  Not a good way to start the day.  Yesterday, I was surprised with a dozen red roses from my hubby.  He doesn’t normally do flowers and I was thrilled!!  The last time he sent flowers was to mark my first Valentine’s day as a married lady.  That was 9 years ago.  He’s pretty wonderful and I’m a lucky girl!

This painting was done from a photo reference of a tray of desserts by Mo at WetCanvas.

Safe Harbor – Watercolor on Masa

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.

WOW!  Good stuff!

Safe Harbor – Watercolor on Masa 3″ x 5″

Well, we have left Idaho behind and now we’re in Belize.  Li from WetCanvas had some great images to paint from in her WDE.  Li and her hubby recently spent 10 days exploring Belize.  The location is dear to my heart, because I was married on an island off the coast of Belize…   Ambergris Caye.    While Li enjoyed the ruins, the caves and the jungles, we loved the beaches and the quaint little town of San Pedro.
The people are amazing, no matter what your vacation plans are.  :)

I think this one had masa written all over it!

Melody Beattie is the author of Codependent No More, published in 1987 by the Hazelden Foundation. The book was successful and influential within the self-help movement, selling over eight million copies and introducing the word codependent to the general public.[1]

Following the success of Codependent No More, Beattie authored over a dozen other books, including Beyond Codependency and The Language of Letting Go. Her most recent book is Make Miracles in Forty Days: Turning What You Have into What You Want, published in 2010. Several of her books have been published in other languages.

On melodybeattie.com, she says this…  “They call me a self-help writer, but I’m not an expert or a guru.  I don’t give medical, psychiatric, or legal advice. I research, and then combine personal experience with what the experts say.  Then I turn that into easy stories for people to watch or read. Sometimes I show people how others (and I) work through certain issues and I suggest options, but I don’t tell people what to do.  I tell them they can do it, instead (a practice referred to as empowerment or permissions therapy.)”

That whole page is very interesting.  Worth a quick read.  :)

The Watchful Bear

Wow!  I love that one!

The Watchful Bear – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor

I was playing last weekend with the help of a book I have on wildlife reference photos.  I tried to paint an elk for my brother, since he is an active member of the Elks, in Idaho.  He has been such a good brother and son lately, taking great care of my mom, who is in the hospital.  Anyway…. The elk looked like a demented cow/sheep/moose/alpaca.  I had a good laugh and threw it in the trash can.  Moving on, I painted this bear… just for fun!  He looks like he’s watching something really interesting.

Have a good weekend!  If life goes according to plan, I’m going to play with masa!  (No… I am not making homemade tamales.  Been there, done that,  and once is enough!)  Masa is a paper that I can’t wait to try.

Columbian Lady II - July 14, 2009

Sometimes, the way is not clear.

Our minds get clouded, confused. We aren't certain what our next step should be, what it will look like, what direction we are headed.

This is the time to stop, ask for guidance, and rest. That is the time to let go of fear. Wait. Feel the confusion and chaos, and then let it go. The path will show itself. The next step shall be revealed. We don't have to know now. We will know in time. Trust that. Let go and trust.

Today, I will wait if the way is not clear. I will trust that out of the chaos will come clarity.
