Oh My! A 4″ x 6″ Collage Postcard (by a first timer)

“This is the beginning of a new day.
You have been given this day to use as you will.

You can waste it or use it for good.

What you do today is important because you are

exchanging a day in your life for it.

When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone

forever; in its place is something that you have

left behind… let it be something good.”

Oh My!  A 4″ x 6″ Collage Postcard (by a first timer)

I mod podged some fabric pieces onto a postcard, then cut out the boat from one of my old paintings and mod podged it and a bit of a doily on top of the fabric.  The little sun is a brass piece and the rest is dimensional acrylic craft paint.   Okay… I was playing and learning and having some fun.

This little postcard will be winging it’s way to Canada for Sharron Marshall.

Today’s quote came from my little Simple Truths book, Finding Joy – Simple Secrets to a Happy Life by Mac Anderson  Click here to see a little inspirational video with quotes from this book.  (3 minutes and 32 seconds long.)

I love Simple Truths books!  I think I have 30 of them in my inspirational book collection!
About Simple Truths

There is one thing in life that took me a long time to learn, and that’s… less is almost always more. This “simple truth” is the foundation on which our company was built. I wanted to create beautiful gift books that anyone can read in less than thirty minutes. To make each book special, we focused on three things:
  1. Great content
  2. Great graphics
  3. Great packaging to create a “wow effect”
We also chose not to offer our books in any bookstores or any retail outlets, to make it even more special as a gift.
Satisfied customers are our #1 priority, so I encourage you to give us feedback on how we’re doing. If we ever disappoint you, I hope you’ll let us know, and we will do everything we can to make it right.
We are honored to serve you! Mac Anderson Founder

Horse Quilt – 5″ x 7″ Watercolor & Sharpie

It’s been a while since  I have sewn any critters.  I enjoyed doing this horse, who’s photo was  provided by Lisilk at WetCanvas.

The tree is up in the sign shop lobby, the ornaments are finished for my handmade ornament exchange and the packages going to people far away are wrapped, packed in boxes and ready to go.   I just need to fill out the insides of my Christmas cards and get them in the mail,  since the envelopes are already addressed.   I wonder what it is that husbands do during the holidays.  Hmmmm… he’s not baking… no, not wrapping… nope, not putting up any trees or hanging any lights…. shopping?… definitely not…  Oh, I forgot…. he went to the liquor store.  That’s it!  Now if I only drank liquor.   No matter what, my hubby is my hero, my calming influence and my best friend, so he does do a lot.  Can you imagine being my calming influence?  That’s a pretty big job.   ;)

Baby Elephant

“Just remember… people are like sticks of dynamite;  the power’s on the inside, but nothing happens until the fuse gets lit.”
Mac Anderson

Baby Elephant
7″ x 11″ Watercolor and Ink on Fabrino Hot Press Paper

Since I am digging into the archives this week, I thought I’d share this odd little painting.  It’s some of my experimental painting.    I was digging through art books and one of them led me to use salt and a little alcohol for the affects I got here.  I remember it being fun!  :)

Refuse to Give Up

“Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference.”
~ Mac Anderson

Refuse to Give Up

2.5″ x 3.5″ Watercolor & Gouache from the Windows Series

I used a piece of watercolor paper that I had already treated with watercolor, salt and saran wrap.  I found a picture of this stone window somewhere and was impressed that it stays where they put it.  It was really fun to paint all the different stones and concrete on that little blue ATC.
