I was in Idaho, I went to a cool place called Yellowstone Bear World.  I had so much fun there.  I was a tall 7 year old that could drive.  I went in the petting zoo and had a wonderful time petting little fawns and goats and even an albino baby elk.  Yes, I was affectionately calling them all honey.  Then I drove through the wild animal park, where I saw all kinds of critters.

Then, I paid a little extra and got to feed 6 little baby bears, one at a time of course.  That was way cool!  (The last photo of the bear on the pole is one of the babies.)   Here are some photos from that day.

About Queen Christina

Queen Christina of Sweden was the most famous woman of her time, outshining Queen Elizabeth of England. She was born in Stockholm in 1626 during a rare astrological conjunction. Her father insisted that she be raised as a boy and changed the law so she could become his heir. She became the reigning queen at age five. She helped end the Thirty Years War but abdicated her throne in 1654, converting to Catholicism and moving to Rome, where she became a patron of the arts. She died in 1689.

I have been working intently on so many acrylic signs that I needed a little 20 minute quickie break.  This was fun.  Of course, I made it up as I went along.

I’m working on a 16″ x 20″ Acrylic painting that I was hoping I would have ready today.  (Good Grief – the big ones take a long time.)   Then…. I had it looking pretty good and I tried something on it that didn’t work, so now I am going to spend hours fixing what only took me 10 minutes to do.  I guess this is part of my learning curve.

(born Dec. 16, 1939, Tokyo, Japan) Norwegian film actress. Raised mainly in Canada and the U.S., she returned to Norway and made her stage debut in Oslo. She became internationally famous in the films of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, including Persona (1966), The Passion of Anna (1969), Cries and Whispers (1972), Scenes from a Marriage (1973), and Autumn Sonata (1978). Noted for her expressive face, natural beauty, and intelligent performances, she also starred in other Swedish and international films, including The Emigrants (1971) and The New Land (1973), and appeared on stage in the U.S. and Europe. She directed and cowrote Sofie (1993) and directed Private Confessions (1999) from Bergman’s screenplay.

In this painting, I was practicing something I saw in Don Andrews’ book.  I wet all the paper around the bears and then added colors, tilting the paper to let them run into each other.  It was fun!

I had a great flying lesson last night!  I think I am getting closer to soloing.  My flight instructor is letting me have total control, to see how I work through things that come up.  My landings are getting better and I even stalled the plane (on purpose) at 2000 ft, to practice how it’s supposed to feel in the flare, before the wheels kiss the ground on landing.  It was so cool!!!  I only have 13 hours and I really want to solo soon, so I can get more hours in on the weekend, when my CFI is unavailable.  He doesn’t seem to have much time for me.

About Winston Churchill

Sir Winston Churchill was an extraordinary British prime minister; he laid the groundwork for welfare in England, helped set the boundaries in the Middle East, became a symbol of the resistance against the Nazis in Europe, and was a central force in the Allied victory in World War II. He was born in 1874 near Oxford. He was known for his courage, his stubbornness, and his powerful personality. He was also an accomplished painter and writer. He died in 1965.
